Who We Are

Karen Alexander, PhD, is the founder and principal of XRconnectED, which provides consulting services for companies and educational institutions wishing to develop a plan for using virtual, augmented, or mixed reality to optimize processes and seize opportunities. She also runs PGH in 360: Youth Perspectives, a program that partners with community organizations to teach young people and adults how to create 360-degree videos. Karen is the Pittsburgh chapter co-president of the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Association.

Elliott Conway is a freelance 360 Content Creator and Studio Manager at StudioME. He studied Electrical Engineering at Ohio University before transferring to Emerson College to finish a degree in Film. While at Emerson, Elliott participated in clubs for screenwriting and production, while also interning as an Editor for both the Boston Herald and America’s Funniest Home Videos. Since college, Elliott’s work has spanned from short films, to commercials, to television shows, to music videos, to virtual reality projects. Along the way, Elliott has developed a deep fascination with how technology has changed the way we create and consume multimedia.

Darin DiNapoli is an Emmy Award winning director/editor/producer/motion graphics artist with 13 years of professional experience in the advertising/film & video industry. Aside from traditional storytelling projects, Darin has also been involved with producing innovative works including 360 video documentary films, and interactive media (games and short film). Darin owns and operates his own production company, DNAPPS Productions, which specializes in content video development and production. www.dnappsproductions.com

James Robertson is a multi-award winning independent filmmaker, director, writer, and editor with a Film Studies degree from the University of Pittsburgh. During his journey in film James has produced, directed, and edited several micro-documentaries that have been streamed on MSNBC’s The Grio and that also featured original music composed by him. Before enrolling in the University of Pittsburgh, James had produced, directed, and edited two independent films that gained him both local and national recognition as well as several appearances on WQED’s Filmmakers Corner. While at the University of Pittsburgh James was the audio engineer for the College Emmy-nominated late-night show Pitt Tonight. James currently shares his love for filmmaking, music production, and audio engineering at the YMCA’s Lighthouse Project as the Artist in Residence.
